The commission from the Oficina de Gestió de Monuments arose with the aim of improving the versatility of the apsidal space of the Collegiate Church of Sant Vicenç de Cardona. From the outset, three requirements were put to me. The first was that the altar had to be mobile, as the church was frequently used as a concert hall or for recording early music, and the existing altar, which was not authentic, was uncomfortable for the musicians due to its large dimensions and immovable position. The second requirement was that the proposal should be aesthetically austere so that it would integrate optimally with the Romanesque monument that is the collegiate church of Cardona. Finally, the third requirement was to include references to the martyrdom of Saint Vincent on the side panels.
